Financing Home Improvements for Seniors

Did you know that the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) offers a program for financing home improvements for seniors that are accessibility related? The improvements may include and are not limited to installation of grab bars and railings, widening of doorways and installation of ramps. When home  improvements like these are made, it means that many older adults can remain in their homes and maintain their independence.

The AHS program provides zero percent interest, deferred loans for a term of 30 years or grants to finance accessibility improvements. The program is marketed through the local Area Agencies on Aging and participating county housing agencies.
