Presentation: Dr. Matthew Kestenbaum will be giving us an overview of the Virginia POST Initiative.

Dr. Kestenbaum will provide an overview of the Virginia POST Initiative, including the following: How POST fits into your Advance Care Plan, how POST differs from an advance directive, the effectiveness of POST, and the intended population for POST.

Dr. Kestenbaum has been a hospice and palliative medicine physician for the past 20 years and was named a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2016.  Currently, he is the Medical Director of Health Information and Training for Capital Caring and the Associate Medical Director of the Virginia POST Collaborative.

At the national level, Dr. Kestenbaum chairs the Mature Status Standards Revision Committee as well as the Consultation Committee of the National POLST Paradigm Task Force and was elected to the Executive Committee of that organization in early 2017.
